Enrolling Your Child in Public School
Netraweb · May 22, 2026
US public schools are often assigned based on your home address. After moving, you enroll in the nearby school district.
Documents you'll need
- Proof of residence (lease, utility bill)
- Child's birth certificate and passport
- Immunization records
- Transcripts from the previous school (if any)
ESL support
Most schools have ESL/ELL programs for students whose first language isn't English. Requesting it at enrollment provides language support and help adjusting. District boundaries split even within the same city, so always confirm based on your address.
