Buying a Used Car in the US
Netraweb · June 13, 2026
In areas with weak transit, a car is essential. A used car can be reasonable if chosen well, but there's a lot to check.
Checklist
- Check accident and ownership history via Carfax/AutoCheck
- Get a pre-purchase inspection at a mechanic
- Check market value on KBB/Edmunds before negotiating
- Confirm the title status and transfer process
Dealers offer easier warranties and paperwork but higher prices; private sales are cheaper but require managing risk. If your credit is limited the interest rate will be high, so paying part in cash can help.
